Wedding Ceremony Decorating

Your ceremony decorations with depend on your location and style.  Traditional church decorations include bows and/or flowers on pews, flowers at the altar, and an aisle runner for the bride to walk upon, sometimes with rose petals strewn along it.  You can go all out and decorate outside the church as well.  Tulle, white lights and a wooden arch can really make a big impact.  Your church may have decorations you can use as well, such as candlesticks, plants and so on.  If you are going to use a unity candle, you can choose one that will “match” your wedding theme if you are so inclined.  The same is true of the ring pillow and flower girl basket, if you are using them.  You may want to have baskets for the wedding programs at the church as well, or just leave it to the ushers to pass them out.  Be sure to check with your ceremony location on any rules they have for decorating and what other weddings will be there that day.  Perhaps you and another wedding party could share some decorations!  In any case, keep in mind that cleanup of ceremony locations usually needs to be quick and easy.

Both Little Bridal Shop and Antonia Rose Printing have many unity candles and other ceremony decorations.

Wedding Reception Decorating

The main areas to consider in decorating your reception are:  Head table (where the wedding party sits), cake table, gift table, guest book table, guest tables, bandstand and dance floor (if applicable), the building entrance, and outside of the building.

Check with your location and caterer about tablecloths, so you know your choices in terms of material and color.  Color-coordinated imprinted napkins at each place can make a big color statement too.  Or you may want to use cloth napkins for dinner and use paper napkins for the cake and/or beverage service.

Flowers and candles are traditional and romantic ways to decorate reception tables.  Small candles or vases at each place can serve as decorations AND favors.  If you use larger arrangements, make sure they are not so tall that the guests cannot see each other and comfortably chat during dinner.  Rose petals scattered on white linines make a lovely impact at lower cost than many fresh arrangements.  Personalized confetti in your wedding colors is another easy way to add color to the tables.

There are plastic clamps available which allow you to display the wedding bouquets at the head table or other tables, to display them.  This is a handy way to stretch your flower budget.

Consider the backdrop behind the head table as well, since pictures will undoubtedly be taken of the head table, by your professional or guests.  Wrapping posts or an arch with tulle and white lights is a relatively inexpensive way to make a big statement.  Tucking in silk flowers makes it even more lux.  Traditional paper wedding bells in various colors are also available.

If you are having a theme wedding, such as western, fairytale, beach, etc., your decorations can reflect that theme to whatever extent you wish.  Many coordinating wedding items are available, from western cake toppers to tropical centerpieces and favors.

Wedding Car Decoration

Finally, don't forget about the wedding car!  If you have specific requirements relating to decorating your car, make sure you let your bridal party know!  There are glass markers, balloons and other items available for decorating it in a way that won't damage the paint.
